Joshua Bowman for 2nd Ward Alderman – A Voice for Our Community

I’m Joshua Bowman, and I’m running for 2nd Ward Alderman to bring real leadership, transparency, and action to Berwyn. For too long, residents have been left in the dark on key decisions, and it’s time for leadership that listens, engages, and delivers.

Stronger Communication & Transparency

Residents deserve to know what’s happening in their ward before decisions are made, not after. I will hold regular ward meetings, provide clear updates, and ensure accessibility so every resident stays informed and engaged.

Smart Growth & Safer Streets

Berwyn’s Depot District has sat vacant for decades, despite being just 20 minutes from downtown. I will push for transit-oriented development, affordable housing, and small business support to revitalize our community while improving walkability, bike access, and pedestrian safety.

Keeping Gaming in Check

Gaming has spread unchecked, disproportionately impacting Latino and working-class families. I will fight for tighter regulations, gaming license caps, and transparency in revenue allocation to protect our neighborhoods. A Safer, Healthier Berwyn Public safety isn’t just about policing—it’s about trust, accountability, and proactive solutions. I will advocate for community policing, crisis intervention training, and greater transparency in law enforcement.

Additionally, I will push for air quality monitoring and stronger environmental protections to address pollution concerns near the train yard, water reclamation plant, and Koppers.

A Commitment to All Residents

As the husband of a first-generation Latina, I’ve been a vocal supporter of immigrant rights, even when others stayed silent. I will fight to ensure language access, protections against ICE cooperation, and resources for immigrant families. Berwyn needs leadership that puts residents first. I’m ready to bring real action, smart growth, and accountability to the 2nd Ward. I’m Ballot #16—let’s build a better Berwyn together.

What Drives Me

Keeping Gaming in Check for a Stronger Community

Berwyn has seen an overabundance of gaming establishments in recent years, and it’s time we take back control. While gaming can be a source of revenue, it should never come at the expense of our neighborhoods’ character or residents’ well-being. I will advocate for tighter regulations, including stricter zoning laws, licensing caps, and greater oversight, to ensure gaming does not continue to run rampant in our Ward. Our community deserves a balanced approach..one that prioritizes local businesses, public safety, and quality of life over unchecked expansion.

Proactive Community Engagement & Transparency

Residents deserve to know what’s happening in their Ward before decisions are made—not after. I will push for more proactive communication, ensuring that city meetings, development plans, and key issues are shared in a timely and accessible manner. This means leveraging multiple channels, from in-person town halls to digital updates, so every resident. whether they’re busy parents, working professionals, or seniors. has a way to stay informed and engaged. My goal is to foster an open dialogue where your voice isn’t just heard but actively shapes the future of our Ward.

Better Digital Tools for a More Accessible City

Navigating city services shouldn’t feel like jumping through hoops. With my background in technology, I will work to modernize Berwyn’s digital presence, making it easier for residents to access services online. Whether you need to apply for a building permit, report an issue, or simply find clear information, a more user-friendly website and mobile app will streamline the process. It’s time to bring Berwyn into the 21st century with digital tools that work for everyone, making government more efficient and accessible to all.
